Great fretless bassists in context of LOUD music?

Hey, I'm looking for bassists who play fretless exclusively, or at least nearly exclusively. I'm really looking for LIVE videos I can watch and study.

Jaco is obviously the king, but I'm looking for more "loud rock" as opposed to jazz (or Weather Report). That dude from Mars Volta plays fretless but the show I watched of them featured very boring bass work....and I'm looking for people who kick ass with fretless. Bakithi Kumalo kicks ass, any more like him out there?? I'd reeeeeally like to find a 5-string fretless player...

Suggestions of songs featuring fretless bass will be appreciated, but I'm REALLY looking for a FULL LIVE SHOW featuring fretless bass, or at least mostly fretless bass. BONUS POINTS for 5-string fretless!!

Well, there is Tony Franklin.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsVLOJDX-fM

Although he is not very heavy in my book.

Then there is also a ton of clips on youtube of people playing "fretless metal bass". Most are doing covers of other metal songs. But this usually allows you to take a good look at what is going on for the bass and not just a few seconds a time of the bass in the video of a band setting. May want to give that a try.

Not necessarily loud, but then, neither is Bakithi Kumalo

Tony Levin

He doesn't always play a fretless ... but he does it well.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

Joe Lester of Intronaut. He has a couple of vids of him doing playalongs to their songs. He plays five string fretless exclusively, and his tone is amazing.

Juan from TMV boring? Are your ears broken?

Agreed, but in all fairness, if he's only heard their newer material it's not very indicative of Jaun's skill.

I haven't been up to date with their new material for a few years... I saw them live in '08 and Juan killed it as usual. Juan's work in Omar's solo projects is great as well.

Kev Hopper's old stuff with Stump is pretty outrageous, very unique style on a Wal. IIRC some of Bauhaus was fretless too.

Watch the first few songs of this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6J_2IXdYE0

He just plays root notes in boring patterns. I got bored and changed the channel. The Joe Lester videos are sweet, though.

This list is SICK, everyone. I'm diving into it headfirst. THANK YOU.

Omar has been writing in a lot more stripped down fashion the last few albums, for TMV at least. Unfortunately putting Juan on the backburner a bit I guess. Still writing him badass parts in ORLG though.

That's Jeroen Paul Thessling in the video and he was on the last two Obscura albums. Linus had yet to appear on an album with Obscura.
