I have a great job flying an Air Rsecue Helicopter for a Marine base in Southern California. Yesterday morning the General called and said he had some VIPs that he would like flown around the base to see the ranges. No problem sir... The VIPs were Montgomery/Gentry (Troy and Eddie). They were playing that night for the Marines and their families that night. We gave Troy, Eddie and their keyboardist a flight around the facilities, during the flight our flight Nurse mentioned that I was a bass player in a local band. The guys were GREAT asking all about our band, equipment, everything. When we landed they invited me over to their sound check. When I arrived at the stage, they brought me up on stage and introduced me to their bass player, Andy.
Andy walked me all through his set up, his approach to playing, you name it. Then Andy handed me a backsatge pass for the show that night. It gets better. Andy had me sit on stage right next to him for the entire show.
The show was awesome. Troy and Eddie are 2nd only to Toby Kieth for the number of shows given to our troops. It was Energetic, Patriotic and ROCK'IN. It was an incredible show.
Now to Andys bass. He told me he was just given that Gibson Thunderbird V and is loving it. I loved it too and I am now considering one for myself. The neck was jsut perfect for me.
It was a GREAT great night!
