Greg Reeves. Was he 12 when he became a session player at Motown? 15 when he joined Crosby Stills Nash and Young? What is his real name? Where are the three solo albums he was working on? Where has he been for the last twenty years? So many questions. No one knows what happened to this man. He played on "Cloud Nine" by the Temptations, the "Deja Vu" album of CSNY, "Southern Man" by Neil Young, and last but not least on "Immigration Man" by Crosby/Nash. Go to the Itunes store and listen to the first 30 seconds of "Immigration Man". That represents some of his best work, I think. Pretty amazing. I met him in April of 1970. He had written some very charming songs and was working on a solo album, Neil Young producing. Three years later he was working with Larry Curzon on another solo album. In the early 90's another try. After that, what? Disappointment? Drugs? Became a farmer? No one seems to know. |
