Great Live Bass Line

I have loved this album since it's debut. I came across Meatloaf Paradise by the Dashboard light live on Youtube and I was kicking back listening to it. I don't know who this bass player was, but what a kick ass line he runs through the song (way different from the studio) and the ending made me laugh....

The studio bassist would be Kasim Sultan. He also played bass in Utopia (Todd Rundgren's band). Since Todd produced Bat Out of Hell, it was only natural that Sultan would be asked to do the studio bass for that album.

He's a great player. Last I heard, Kasim had taken over bass duties for the The Cars.

Not sure from the You Tube clip if that is Kasim or not.

Either way, this line he plays in the video is crazy.

Although Kasim Sulton played on all of Meat's records, Steve Buslowe actually played bass on most of Meat Loafs tours for over twenty years...
In fact, Kasim usually played guitar and keyboards when he did play live w/ Meat- yielding low end duties to Mr. Buslowe!

I do believe that the above video is none other than Steve Buslowe... check out his Marcus-like Jazz bass

Kasim Sulton has played w/ a slew of musicians in the studio, and was a member of the New Cars (w/ Rundgren & Elliot Easton), but that kind of fizzled out... he is currently playing w/ Rundgren and some solo gigs. Buslowe has been teaching...

There are some great bass lines hiding away under all the operatic bombast of Meatloaf.

Steve Buslowe plays an absolutely ripping line on DEAD RINGER FOR LOVE, seriously go check it out.

And Kasim plays some absolutely fantastic lines all over Bat Out Of hell. I transcribed a slew of them for an eBook for my website - it took about 4 times as long as I anticipated. There's some real quality stuff there.
