|  | Registered User | | | | | Great P-Bass Tone (George Porter Jr.) I was just listening to The Meters' 1975 recording Fire On the Bayou and marvelling at George Porter Jr's milky, sweet, woody, punchy tone throughout the entire album. Great stuff. One of the great post-Jamerson P-bass tones...right up there with Willie Weeks and a handful of others, IMHO. And like Willie, he's still out there tearing it up!

Fantastic show, sat right up front about 10 feet from the stage.
Of course George was great, but also everyone in the band is a killer player, especially the young drummer, he was killin' it!
He used the Lakland P all night and it sounded great. The old mojo P was no where to be seen.
