My favorite non-prog band in my youth!!!!

Always loved Greg's deep, booming tone and playing style. You do know he passed on about two years ago?

Yeah, I love me some Ridley too! I've always enjoyed his voice & bass playing. Obvious choices are Performance - Rockin' The Fillmore & Smokin', but their third (self-titled) record is pretty amazing too. The song "Live With Me" is one of my all time faves, and it features Ridley pretty prominently.

Just thinkin' about two more great performances by Greg on the "Rock On" album - "Strange Days" and "Rolling Stone." To get such a booming tone with no treble and still have the notes so distinct and powerful - wow! I think he used tapewound strings, if anyone can confirm.

Greg was awesome and is sorely missed. One of my favorite bass lines of his: "Hot -n- Nasty"!

I'm a giant Small Faces fan and love all the offshoots. I have to admit, I'm a little put off by Steve Marriot's screechy moments in Humble Pie, all the proto arena rock schtick, but there's an awesome album from '69 called Town And Country. It's definitely their "We've listened to Blind Faith and the first album by the Band and we're moving to the country" moment, but so beautiful. Lots of really nice acoustic playing.
