The Grunge Bassists Thread

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi, my name is Lou, and I love Grunge.

It's not a guilty pleasure! Grunge is what got me started on Rock music and bass playing in general.

I like many different types of music, from jazz to funk to motown to disco, metal, soft rock etc. But Grunge = <3 for me, always!

This recording is what made me pick up a bass

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nco_kh8xJDs

Are there any other flanel loving, plaid wearing, greasy haired angsty grunge lovers out there!?

Who are some of your favourite Grunge bassists, etc? sharing is caring!

Count me in. At least 15 songs in our setlist are 90s Seattle bands. AIC = Best band ever.

Just bought 2 flannels the other day. Been thinking about some Doc Martins as well.

Spooonmaaaan.

I'm not a huge grunge guy, as in I think grunge is a phony genre that seems to describe wildly different music. That said, I am a huge Nirvana fan, and I credit Kurt Cobain with my love for Fender Mustangs, which has shaped the guitars and basses I've bought and subsequently my style.

Anyway, I love that drum break in "Spoonman" and think that the bass riff that comes in is totally rockin'.

when i saw 'grunge' in a TB forum, I instantly thought of 'Would?". It's my favorite AIC song. Top 5 bands.

Grunge really rocks big time.

Some of my other favourite grunge lines:

Lounge Act
Rain When I die - AIC
Hurricane Dance - Truly
Night Goat - Melvins
Jeremy - PJ
Long Gone Day - Mad Season
Artificial Red - Mad Season
Greedy Fly - Bush

Also, the first Foo's album is definitely my favourite. Their second is just as good, but I can honestly do without the rest of their albums... the first two ablums (the first completely made by Grohl himself, the second was mostly him as well) are amazing.
