Have you ever seen a big-shot bassist use someone else's signature bass?

I saw one of the music videos of the band Stellar Kart, and noticed the bassist was using a Mark Hoppus signature.

Now, by big-shot, I mean big enough that....playing is a big part of bringing home the food to the table.

The bassist backing Hannah Montana uses a Geddy. I am ashamed of this knowledge.

Mic Todd of Coheed and Cambria used a Geddy. Sounded so sweet.

It's just a bass, don't read too much into it.

Doesn't Jason Scheff (Chicago) play a Lakland JO? I don't think it was a Jerry Scheff.

Ya know, for being a die-hard metal fan and trying to be manly at everything I do or say, I'll admit I like to watch Hannah Montana. The show is pretty hilarious and not to mention, when she turns 18...lol j/k

...but seriously, you know what I mean.

I have to admit, I often times judge musicians harshly if they fall into using a signature model bass =/

If I was gonna be seen with someone else's signature bass, I wouldn't have picked Mark Hoppus lmfao

when one uses another artist's signature, I think it should be considered more an extension of their own personality. Some great combinations of features can be found on signatures that can't be found on production models. With that said, the topic of sig instruments have been beaten into dirt on TB.

Janek uses Matt's model. With a few alterations, but Matt's model, none the less. Two big players. One badass bass.

Flea used a Jaco sig on one of his video clips from Stadium Arcadium. At least, he was filmed with it.

Just to bring it all into perspective; On the guitard side of things aka the Dark Side; players have been using a signature instrument for many years, the Les Paul! I don't think it's a problem for them so why are we so hung up with this "problem"?

Just saw a Crowded House TV concert the other night. Bassist also had a Fender Geddy.

beaten to dirt? i dont think so really, suret hey have been mentioned alot but this is a brand new topic... that i havent seen on the boards. i think this is a good topic.. to see how bassists expand there tastes and what basses they play.. not for the name but for the other aspects of why people choose basses in the first place.

Stefan Lessard once used a Modulus Flea bass...

I'm drawing a blank on the guy that used a Fender Jaco bass, fretted version.
