Any Hawaii bassists out there on TB? It's a small scene out here, so let's stand up and be heard!

I'm in Hawaiian Beaches.

Edit: I like the sound of a Hawaii GTG. Just keep in mind I stay broke though.

Aloha from Poipu, Kauai! (The correct spelling of the island you visited Joe )

Was just gonna ask this...mabye we SHOUD DO numbers
no reason why there shoudn't be a Hawaii bassist club...there's actually a lot of bass players in Hawaii, most play in a Jawaiian or reggae band (least on my island) got a few Jazz bassist here and there..a few traditional Hawaiian music players...and of course Jukebox Heroes (with stars in his eyes) like myself

So far the count is

3 from Kaneohe
2 from Big Island
1 from Hawaii Kai
1 From Hawaii Beaches
1 from Kauai

Tskills, what part you from brah? Also DieChris from the 808 too right?

^ Hahaha...yep..the 9th Island...if Hawaii was a Kingdom again, we shold annex it Its got a ABC store and everything...embassy would be the California hotel lol.

I remember the first time I visited vegas for a wrestling event (which eventually got canceled) brought a huge box of chocolate macadamia nuts to bribe the hotel staff with...the agent took my box and put it on a giant stack they had in the back of every brand..the guys were laughing at me forever on that one...

DieChris you familiar with many bands from out here, like Ooklah the Moc? I was wondering what type of bass most guys play in bands..from wyat I see, tends to be 5 or 6 strings,as local music utilizes the lower tones like in reggae

Ooklah is my all time fav reggae band.. And I don't even usually like reggae that slow haha. I saw them at UH one night. Such a tight band. Hell fire is such a good song.

My families mostly in to the classical Hawaiian scene.. Cousins went to Kam school.. Uncle was a judge at the song contest one year.

Me on the other hand.. I play metal haha. My sig has a sample of mu bands newest album.

Played mostly a jazz bass and a Modulus flea bass both 4st in Hawaii. My band now I play 4 and 5 string Spectors. Definitely using low end... 4 string is tuned Low A D G C hah

I played music with my good friend Kanoa from Gomega/Ho'omau a few times. Kanoa plays bass now.. Think he still has my jazz lol. He's gotta be one of the best musicians there.

Yes. I have since learned the proper spelling. And pronunciation. Was right there in Poipu. Stayed at Kiahuna Plantation. Got married on Shipwreck Beach. You live in an incredibly beautiful neighborhood. Ya'll just drive too dang slow.
