This has to be the highest height I've ever seen someone wear+play bass

Same guy. He still plays the Ray sort of up high but his Gretsch is way lower.

The bassist from Cavo could rest his chin on his bass. Slinging your bass low isn't comfortable, but that high can't possibly be comfortable either...

My bass has to hang low enough to cover my junk: this prevents stray bottles from effecting my ability to reproduce.

I used to play that high for years. Bow-Tie player is what my friend & I call ourselves. Wear that bass like a Bow-tie!

Yep..as I get older my hair migrates from my head to my butt and my bass migrates from my crotch to my nipples.
