I'm pretty sure this is the same Sting Signature that Marcus Miller bought at the GC in Bridgeton, Missouri. I saw him play at the inaugural concert of the 2005 Headhunters at the Pageant in St. Louis. The man sounds good as always!

edit: nm, Headhunters 2005... I can't read.

It was a strange band... they had John Mayer on guitar (strange #1), and then some South African guitar player who had nothing to do with the music they were playing (strange #2). Also, Herbie seemed totally clueless and not into the 'other music' played that night. He introduced Marcus playing his composition 'Frankenstein' I wish I could have seen the band that Dr. Cheeze posted with Wah Wah Watson... that's what I'm talkin' about!
The best part of that show was sneaking into the soundcheck and hearing Marcus and Carrington warming up and checking their levels, etc. Oh my god was that smoking!!!!

I remember when the original came out, that combination of power finesse drumming and the off center timing of Paul Jackson blew me away still does. They made that album. Whenever I hear somebody banging their way through "Chameleon" I think of that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jo5Gc...eature=related
Of course Mike is a beast too and the combo of him and PJ is just plain scary.
I saw Herbie when he had TLC and Matt Garrison in the group. Matt didn't play a P but I dug what he was doing much more than this iteration. JMO.

Ken, the guitar player is Lionel Loueke. He's a monster...but you certainly can't see it from this junk. Look him up online and hear his own music....beautiful, beautiful work indeed. He has some roots in Boston where he went to school....one of the nicest people you could ever want to meet on the planet. |

I recall an interview with Herbie Hancock where he touted Loueke's playing..."He never plays what I expect." The tour with Vinnie and Nathan East was beyond ridiculous - plenty of drum lunacy vids over on www.drummerworld.com if anyone is interested. Terrific playing.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent - this was a fun vid, and Terri Lyne Carrington sounded INCREDIBLE. I'm a big fan. |

Check the video out at the 2:19 mark."What will I see??"you ask.A Roland 2X10 Combo w/a 1X15 for more lows.
Has he abandoned his Fender Sig. MM pre-amp??Or,is he just sitting in on a few tunes IN this clip??
I can't even tell if the bass beside the rig in question is one of his Signature models. As you know, his basses are pretty easy to spot out,due to the p/guard on them.
Can anyone answer this. It's small things such as this that makes me go crazy until I find out.Anyone????? |
