Hedley's Bassist.... What a Great Guy!

Bands like Hedley irritate me. Simple Plan, Sum 41, etc. I just don't like the music. 3 chord poppy punk tunes annoy me.

Anyways, I won tickets through a music retailer to see Hedley play at a real small private thing at Gibson and took my 11 year old son who is a huge Hedley fan.

I have to say, I still really don't LOVE the music, but the bassist, Tommy Mac is a great guy and was amazingly nice to my son. Pictures, autographs, remembered his name and was just a real nice guy. Very cool to see guys like this take the time to be nice to little kids. My son is sleeping with the signed CD.

Also, this isn't a guitard forum, but Dave the guitarist was even nicer. He played Guitar Hero II with my kid for a while and genuinely wanted to do that more than talk to press, Gibson and Universal Music types.

Many pro rock guys are knobs in my experience and I think it is great when bands act like this. It is amazing to see how happy my son is from hardly any effort from these musicians.

Cheers!

This is a great post. I can also really relate to this situation.

I am definitely not a fan of this kind of music. But, I have found that the actual musicians in these bands can be extremely nice, approachable people with no chip on their shoulder whatsoever.

I think Dave from the band Hedley is a GREAT guy. Years ago, my band was auditioning potential lead guitar players and Dave showed up. He was the epitome of professional: great player, great gear, great attitude, great personality.

The members of Billy Talent are really nice also. My bandmates and I shared a flight with them to Toronto several years ago and they were great.

Of course, there's no reason why musicians like this should be anything else but pleasant. I guess with all the screaming and posturing going on in the performances, it seems easy to assume that they would be dripping with attitude offstage. Thankfully, this is not the case much of the time.
