I love the DVD. The guys are certainly shadows of what they once were (and I would expect no less), but they're all still great. Although much of the material lacked the original fire, it's still a great treat to see them play the old stuff again.

Personally I would have rather have seen Clapton use Marshall plexi full stacks and a Les Paul/SG/ES335/Firebird instead of the Fender gear. But I understand business is business.

I don't recall if I've watched the whole thing yet, but I agree...

Personally, I was hoping to be slammed against the wall by the raw power that was Cream, but this was a lot more tame.

IIRC, in an interview Clapton said that they tried the whole Marshall stack thing but it didn't work...I guess it depends on what the definition of "it didn't work" is...sonically, contractually, etc.

I laugh everytime I see a photo of Jack's Hartke heads...love that EQ curve!!! Take that you who shun mids!!!

He commented somewhere in the interviews that they
had considered playing the older style, but that it
just wasn't them today, and they decided to play the
way that they currently play and use their current gear
on purpose. That made sense to me.

I found the 1968 Albert Hall DVD at WallyMart for $9.98 and
bought that. It is an excellent contrast to watch both.
Same venue no less.

Is that the one where the camera flashes between them rapidly, never stopping on one for more than a second or so? It gives me a headache to watch it. I wish they had just filmed it normally instead of trying to be artsy.

Might be. Maybe it just gave me a flashback.

LOL just pictured them firing up that wall of amps, then looking at each other..."Y'know, that's just too f'n loud, mate!"
Kind of a Spinal Tap moment!

i didn't mind the camera, i just wish that they would put the whole song on the DVD, not just talk during the verses, and then watch a few minutes of the solo, and then cut to an interview
