Hello, welcome to TB. I thought that since the bass only had 4 strings it would be easier then a guitar.

I moved to PA when I was 10, and I still had to develop a lot, particularly a musical taste, of which I did not have. My best new friend after moving liked rock and metal. He played rush for me and I just loved how raw and powerful they sounded live.

The idea of playing in a band really appealed to me but I didnt even know what a bass was. They told me and I slowly learned how to identify bass in my favorite songs. Soon after I picked up a bass guitar.

10 years later and I'm still terribly mediocre

Willkommen! I was inspired by Geddy Lee, and was asked to start a band with some friends. My cousin happened to be selling a short-scale bass, and nobody else that I knew played one, so I could be an individual playing one.

I just started playing myself. The sound a bass guitar makes sends shivers down my body. After a Korn/Disturbed concert I was hooked! I was standing in front of the bass players and after closley watching their hands and listening to the sounds I was done for.

The bass guitar just feels so right under by fingers. I find it to be such a wonderful instrument.

For me it was the output from Motown. I was a teen and was amazed that Jamerson could give each of the artists and groups on Motowns roster their own signature sound.
