The song "Rudiger" by Mark Knopfler from the Golden Heart album has a beautiful fretless bass line on it. On the live DVD it's a Modulus Q6 fretless.

Is that kind of stuff what you are looking for?

Yep! Although anything past 5 strings is beyond me! But I'm approaching this as a "Vocabulary builder" so its all game. Thanks for the tip, I love Dire Straits "Telegraph Road."

Thanks - both tracks are very cool so far. Scanning the forum - what about Mars Volta? Never heard 'em, but I've heard of 'em. Worth checking out?

I've got pretty eclectic tastes I guess: Old-school metal, reggae, bluegrass, Russian Choir music, Mo-town, Bakersfield country, John Scofield-type jazz, it goes on and on. I really try to keep an open mind.

Just wanted to see what everybody else likes too I guess - this dog is always hungry to eat more music!

Free Go Lily by Medeski Martin & Wood. Chris Wood with a Hofner and a pick = sexy sounds.
