Help me find 60s bass solo videos

Sign in to disble this ad
I know they're there, but I can't seem to find some of those old bass solos I've seen on youtube. I'd appreciate some help. It's always interesting to see basses cutting loose in the pre-Jaco sixties.

I'll take the easy one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kkKeZ1z8zGk (I'm assuming it's still the sixties. There's no date given. Tell me if it isn't, and I'll delete it.)

I thought I had another one with Bootsy playing for James Brown in Paris, but it turns out that was 1971.

Can you find any?

No uprights, no jazz.

There were not many bass solos in the 60's. It just wasn't done very much back then.

If you go to about 3:30 in track 10 you can hear a very 60s bass solo. This material might not float your boat, but it is a bass solo. Sorry that there's no video, but I doubt it would be in focus.

There is also John Entwistle, Mick Hawksworth in Andromeda (OLD Andromeda) and maybe Greg Lake...

Here's a Jack solo. It's 1970, but still part of the 60s scene.

An all time fave of mine, Andy Fraser and Free playing Mr. Big live. Great solo and playing by the whole band, there's so much "air" and beautiful phrasing in Andy's solo, hard to belive he isn't even 20 years old at the time. Classic Gibson EB and Marshall tone!

Great post! Never seen that one. (And to my great shame, I'd never heard of the band...)

Yeah, you're right. That's an important distinction. Maybe that will let me post Bootsy in Paris, which is just too cool. You can just feel the seventies are about to explode after this, but I think this solo is still kind of rooted in the sixties:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0fn-xyaGHE

Bootsy gets the call at 7:17 (and his brother Catfish starts absolutely SMOKING at 4:21!).

This is a favorite of mine too!

EDIT: This . . . is harder than I thought it would be.

Yes, those Townshend songs like "Sunshine of Your Love" and "White Room" are simply the best!
