Henrik Linder

I have been listening and watching the Dirty Loops Youtube video's now for a few weeks and must say Henrik is one seriously talented bass player. His use of ghost notes on Circus is simply fantastic. His solo in Baby is so good it makes me want to give up bass forever. The best part is you can clearly see that he loves playing.

Yep. He's amazing. It really amazes me because this cat is young and also not having that much exposure.

I've been watching those video's too. Good God!!!! Don't know his age or for how long he's been playing, but it's like.....how do some of these young guys get so good? I mean he's like years ahead of the game. Wood shedding no doubt, but when you're that young and that good I'm sure you're looking at a natural talent as well.

I wish him well.

I feel useless and hopeless after seeing him. I hope Justin Bieber feels the same. He deserves it.

I was just going to post that Uriah clip, until I scrolled down to see that you did. Uriah is a true badass, I have seen him plenty of time at NAMM and it has got to be a heck of a compliment if he says:

"Thanks Henrik for whoopin' my ass with this one! Mad props to you bro!"

Henrik is amazing, I would love to catch some of the original stuff he is involved in. I understand that he also gigs in a group with his brother.

It is funny a couple weeks ago fellow mod Pacman posted this on his facebook page under the shared Youtube clip of DL's "Baby" cover:

"Young Mr. Bieber,

We fixed your sxxt. Don't let it happen again.

dl"

I think he is great as well. I am beginning to think he is a clone!

I checked out thier web site. Said Henrik started on piano at 4, got into bass guitar at 13 and by the age of 16 was doing sessions. Also did and continues to do some serious studying. Don't know his age now but it's safe to say he's making quite a name for himself.

Yeah, I now look at my bass and think "why do I even bother?"

Hey, more power to him!!

It's the European music pedagogy. They've honed and refined the method of teaching music for over 500 years; they take their music very seriously. I'm sure Henrik had an excellent instructor.

I just watched that Uriah Duffy video (who is he?) playing what Henrik played and it's like..."I don't get it!!" Don't get me wrong because I LOVE it! It's so unusual and it's so differant but man, I just don't understand that language of music or playing. Wish I did! What's Henrik playing over? Or playing against? Very exciting stuff.

Henrik is in a band called Dirty Loops. Dirty Loops did a remake of Justin Beiber's song "Baby", only in a funked up version. Uriah Duffy is a bass virtuoso who did a "I can play that" video to show that he can copy Henrik, becuz he can.

They've just become my new favorite band....

A good pop song is still a good pop song for a reason. I don't happen to like the production of most of it....and then along comes Dirty Loops and makes me appreciate that a good hook doesn't have to be dumbed down for the masses.

Actually, they remind me of bebop musicians in the early 40s who decided to take "pop standards" and elevate them to a new level of complexity and excitement. The difference is that these young turks didn't take the fun or dancibility out of it. Can't wait to hear what their originals sound like...

^^+1 Yeah, Dirty Loops actually made "Baby" a little more (for a lack of a better description) smarter or complex.

Sounds like jazz to me and I hate jazz, and I certainly don't like dance pop! Yet, I really really like dirty loops and have no idea why.

It's not that Henrik is so incredibly good because there are other bass players out there who I appreciate and respect, but just don't like to listen to. (Jaco and Sheehan come to mind)

I guess they are so damn good and tight that genre preferences is sorta transcended. I don't understand why I like them, but I can't understand how anyone could not like them. It's like being in awe of the great pyramids while simultaneously hating the shape of a triangle.

Obviously, my mind has been blown to the point that I simply can't effectively reason anymore.

My 16 yr old daughter, who hates jazz and loves pop got a kick out of them. BECAUSE they're badass musicians, playing kickass arrangements to great pop hooks. And they kept the fun in the pop and didn't go "Miles" on it

Fantastic bassist. And those fusiony reinterpretations of origianlly pretty dull songs totally work for me, too. Really looking forward to their upcoming album!
