Henry Rollins Plays Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Been watching episodes of an old American show called Fridays from 1981. Saw The Jim Carroll Band perform live and happened to notice how much his bass player looks like a young Henry Rollins. I know they were good friends and did perform spoken word together later. SO here's my challenge to all of you... I can't find anything about it, please watch the video and notice the flat head and lack of neck. Need confirmation that this is indeed Mr. Rollins. As my fiancee is hopelessy in love with him and won't leave me alone.

I think it just looks kinda like him from the side, when it cuts to the bass player from straight on it doesn't look much like him at all in my opinion.

I've been a Rollins fan for over twenty years, seen a million spoken word shows, heard a million bootleg recordings of these shows, own all the books and recordings, and have read, heard, or seen all the interviews.

Rollins has said over and over again that he has no musical inclinations at all, can't play a note on any instrument, and can't carry a tune in a bag. He's also never mentioned anything in any media source about playing any dates as a bassist as long as I've been following him.

We figured it out. It's Stevie Linsley. Looks a lot like a young Henry Rollins. Far Right.

Indeed. It seems that some of Rollins' first musical experiences was singing with punk bands before he got into Black Flag. Although he has had some pretty awesome bass players in his own band. Notably, Melvin Gibbs. The man can play!!!

+1 It's NOT Rollins in the vid, and wiki says it's Linsley as well.
