Jamaaladeen kills it. I haven't kept up with him much since those '80s Gramavision releases. Another bass monster from Philadelphia!

One of my big early influences - I got to see him in the 80's up close and personal at the old Knitting Factory on Houston Street NYC. Mind Blowing. I remember laughing the laugh of amazed enjoyment.

Here is a cool vid of him from the 80's with James Blood Ulmer. Respect.

I saw him with James Blood back in the 80s too...
His best albums are Dreamscape, Layin' in the cut and the seriously groovy free jazz of Mirakle with Derek Bailey (RIP!)

Three great old memories after reading these posts, JT, Ulmer, and the Knitting factory (though I never saw any music there, just art and video installations).

I lost touch with Jamaladeen T's career as well, thanks for the links Jauqo.

Jamaaladeen has continued going strong ever since he first bust on the scene with Ornette Coleman in the mid 70's.

He is much bigger and more well known out side of America. But that's how it is some times.
