Pretty funny. When you look at the expressions on their faces, it seems that Hamm is having fun with the joke, Sheehan actually is considering it a serious performance and digging it, and Berlin seems generally confused about what it actually is they are doing

That's entertainment! It was pretty silly and sexist, but no one is supposed to take that seriously. My only problem was that Jeff Berlin's solos sound inappropriate. The man knew how to rock back in the day, but on that clip, he sounds like he is trying to play bebop over three chord rock, and it just didn't fit.

What's funny about it is that it's called big BOTTOM, yet there is no BOTTOM (mind you I'm aware of the context of the lyrics, I just thought it was an interesting choice of words).

I thought it was brilliant! I'm also a huge fan of "This is Spinal Tap", so I got the joke. I think those of you who dismissed it, haven't actually seen the movie. It's a must for all musicians.

3 secs and poo

Part of the problem was the audio quality but I could only listen to 3 secs. I may go to see 3 bass players touring together like wooten clarke and miller, and I might be blown away, but I think I prefer hearing a mix of complementary instrumentalists. Correct me if I'm wrong but did miles ever tour with 3 trumpet players or Coltrane do the saxtet tour?
I bought the "legends" dvd off amazon having never heard it, thinking I could not go wrong! Miller Clapton and Sanborn should be great together. I ended up remembering why my brother and I were so drawn to the Crusaders in high school. Joe Sample was the highlight of the dvd for me, followed by Marcus interaction with drummer Steve Gad. Clapton hohum yawn, and well hope you get my rant! I don't want to see a 3 bass player jack off to prove who's more adept. I want a magic synergy of bass keys guitar drums sax or whatever when they get it right together. It's about the music

It's a joke.
it's a joke.
once again, it's a joke.
OBVIOUSLY, it's a joke.
Even if you've never seen the movie, listen to the lyrics: it's a joke.
Disregard their tone, the quality of the musicianship, and the silliness of the tune, because, you know, it's a joke.
