She's appearing at Miller Outdoor on Friday, 5/29.

*Ritmo Latino
Featuring Esperanza Spalding
May 29, 8:00 pm

Widely held as a child prodigy on the double bass within months of first cradling the imposing instrument a a 15-year old, Esperanza Spalding has hardly stopped to catch her breath in the years since. Blessed with uncanny instrumental chops on the acoustical bass, a soaring multi-lingual voice that is part angel and part siren, and a natural beauty that borders on hypnotic, the 24-year-old prodigy-turned-pro weaves together the best of the traditional and the progressive.

Produced b Society for the Performing Arts

The fine print:
Free, assigned seat tickets for the covered seating area are available from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on performance day at the Miller Outdoor Theatre Box Office. Tickets are limited to four per person.
No tickets are required for lawn seating. Patrons may bring food and beverage, but glass containers are prohibited. Pets are strongly discouraged on the hillside, and are prohibited in the covered seating area.

Call Miller Outdoor Theatre, 713 533-3262, for general and special needs ticket information.

My bad. Jazz. From the description of the event, probably Latin Jazz for this program.

Sorry, thought folks would know by her name. There are about 6,298,457 threads here professing love of her.

Here are a couple:

I saw the article in this morning's Chronicle. I have a thing I have to go to with my wife. So I can't attend.

Crap times 100,000. Being an adult sucks sometimes. Esperanza is a wonderful player and singer. She sounds really good on Joe Lovano's new album.
