How annoying do you think music centers can be?

I've seen that in a lot of other threads people are complaining about going to GC, and other stores to try out basses, due to all the racket that goes on there. I just want to say that few times have I gone to GC and had an enjoyable time trying anything out. There are numerous people beating on numerous instruments, they have music blaring through the ceiling speakers, and TV's with videos playing at full volume. How the hell are you suppose to hear anything? Not to mention the irritating sales people who stand over you while you play, yet don't know anything or call you back when you ask for information about equipment. I was wondering if anyone else would like to gripe about it.

This should be moved to the "Let's Bitch" Forum.

There isn't.

I hate GC too. I also hate musiciansfriend. All communists, I say.

My local GC has a bass booth, soundproof (kinda) from the other sections. It is the smallest room in there, of course, but it's better than being on the show floor.

I have sort of the opposite problem with GC. Mine has the 16 year olds shredding on the guitars and the occasional dolt trying to play the drums, with the videos and the radio cranked. But I could stand on my head and become blue in the face before someone will come over and ask if I need help. I could sit in the "bass room" all day and read a book and no one would come by to see if I was even still alive.

I was there the other day and I tried to get a bass off the ceiling (they have a bunch hanging about 8 feet off the floor). I couldn't reach and was contemplating dragging an amp over and climbing on it to reach the bass. I finally cornered an employee by literally running out and jumping in front of him as he passed by with his head down and stopped him for help.
