I think its is better to explore a few bassists so you can study different approaches. It`s the only way you can call someone a real influences on your style and choice of notes... I tended to rush over the material but now I limited the bassists I am studying to 5 (now I am with roscoe Beck for some months, then I will change, and so on). How many bassists you can study and you consider a real influence??? Do you think its better less than more??? |

If you learn from all of these influences as you change, than over time your own style will start to emerge, sort of like a snowball affect.

Moreover most of us have spent more time listening to music than playing.

Studying just one bassist in depth is only useful if I really, really like what he does. |
