Ok how many of you bass players miss guitar players playing a blistering but melodic not just peeling off a bunch of notes as fast as he can solo and you can go off on some kickin groove. I miss that. Is there any bands current doing that? LETS HERE IT YOU SLIGHTLY OFF BALANCED FREAKS OF NATURE OH THATS ME SORRY |

My son plays drums and I try to get the guitard to play melodic hooks and rhythmic hooks.... He doesn't get it... They played The Knitting Factory, Roxy and Whiskey in Hollyweird and ALL the guitards sounded like Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure or Wayne's World.... It's Amazing!!! Please bring back the Larry Carlton, Eric Clapton, Robben Ford, George Harrison, Michael Allsup melodic solos and rhythm that fits with the bass & dums, not just dum-dum-dum-dum-grunjy marshallesque....gaaaaghhhh! |

Those are three bands off the top of my head that meet those criteria off the top of my dome. Those guys all have nice tastefully done guitar solo's, except for as blood runs black, some of their solo's are typical metal going up and down scales really fast solo's but they've got a couple really cool ones. I advise anybody to listen to Co&Ca and thrice, they are both the most original bands I've heard in a while (in the context that I'm only 20). You can hear the influence of older bands like zeppelin and rush when you listen to coheed but the newer thrice stuff is almost genreless in its originality, im not even sure they have solo's, i just think they deserve a listen. |

Another band that does a lot of jamming is Gov't Mule.
