His bass is a japanese 70's reissue form the early 90's with emg's. Hope this helps. Sucks to see him go. All the best in the future.

I agree. He is one of my favourite players ever...this sucks

I'm surprised he would invest that much time in a band then quit. Especially considering he doesn't have kids or something. I wouldn't be surprised if the newer stuff he does will be more Jazzy as most of his solos seems to have more of that feel.

I can see why he would leave. He said he was tired of the grind. If he was smart with his money, he will be able to play what he wants and live alright. That is probably what we all really want.

Bloody hell, The Roots are one of my favourite bands, probably my favourite contemporary band and I just heard about this today!!!

Hub is one of my biggest influences, not only playing wise but philosophy/attitude wise as well.

Just the bass! When you know what you’re doing, there are no tricks.

So many people name him as their favorite, but I've never heard of him. How would you describe his style of bass playing? The more specific you can be, the better, thanks.

I missed this! I wish him the best, I hope the departure was on good terms. I was fortunate enough to see him with the Roots two years ago, what an incredible show! They were an amazingly tight musical unit, and Hub's solo spot was pretty mind-blowing, too. I'm sure his replacement will be a great player, though.
