I love Jaco...I really like especially his first solo album, his works with Weather Report and Joni Mitchell and one tune with Herbie Hancock ("Textures" from "Mr Hands")...I think he has done outstanding things with both playing and writing...that said I get a bit angry when I hear about players (even famous) who pratically listen just to Jaco and say things like "after him I haven't heard anything interesting in the world of the bass"...this sounds a little like blasphemy to my ears...music is beautiful because there's so much to listen to, and many players live in this sort of "jaco-shadow"...there are so many great musicians around just waiting to be discovered or, better, re-discovered...Jaco has been (and still is...) extremely important in the hystory of our instrument and of music in general....but let's recognize to others too their credits, damn'it!!!!

Maybe this will get me some enemies...
