I clicked on a banner ad on the forums here and his name came up on the site. So I googled him...WHO IS THIS MAN and why have I not seen him before.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iy9c5zz8qsI

check this out!

Sorry if you all know about him, but it's new to me.

He plays what I think is a very unique style of bass.

Let me know if you are familiar with him and what you know about him.

That is the link I clicked on, I just figured he was a sponsored player or something.
Yeah, I have spent some time looking around on the net, neat guy but really should have more fame (in my opinion)

Wikipedia let me down, as there wasn's much there for once.

He had a column in Guitar for the Practicing Musician for a while (took over for Randy Coven, IIRC), and was the bassist on a lot of Shrapnel Records and similar labels.

He was the shredding bassist behind a lot of the shredding guitarists of the '80s and early '90s. He's got video (now DVD) lessons out called Superchops 4 Bass. He sent me a free sample when I got a bass from Bass Central.

Wow, I want to meet this guy now. It seems like everyone he has helped out is very happy...that is so rare now.

Thanks for the information, I am finding more and more on him...I still think he deserves to be heard by everyone.

I met him a Bass Central, and he even played some crazy stuff on my Foundation for me. He struck me as a really nice guy.

Years ago my wife called the store to buy an effects unit for my birthday. Afterwards she asked me: "Who's Beaver Felton? He was the nicest guy!" It's great when someone that talented can be so cool to everyone.

I just saw "Slap Happy" on YouTube. Dang ...

More kudos to Beaver Felton. Great guy. Just gave me a fantastic deal on a Smith bass with a free cd thrown in. Thanks much Beaver.

I've known of Beaver since I was 17. Used to go see him play in clubs. He was always THE guy in town, and could even get away with slapping through Yes and Genesis songs. He still plays out occasionally around here with local bands but he's got a full plate with Bass Central.

Hell of guy, I bought my Warwick cab from him while I was in Iraq....he's an astounding, solid bass player as well.

Hey Rob,

Nice. I just discovered Seth Horan in a "Bassists you think more should know of.... " thread.
