I was at Alpine Valley on the first of the two nights that Cray opened for Vaughan who opened for Clapton. The second night was Stevie's last show.
By the way, I'll never forget sitting there after Clapton (who brought out Jeff Healey during the encore) got all done and listening to the choppers go in and out as we stared straight into the pea-soup-thick fog and asked each other, "How are they doing that? You can't see a single thing in that fog."
It never occurred to me to look up who played bass that night until now (and I was young and dumb at the time and simply didn't know). It was Nathan East!
Hey everybody, I saw Nathan East!
Obviously, that was an incredible night, and now I know it was amazing for ANOTHER reason.
