Im not a violent person BUT...

Sign in to disble this ad
I want cause some serious damage to this individual..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-r0wp-mNjc

I have no idea why he has an ABG maybe some kind of gimmick... but according to wikipeida

"He defeated Jarvis Cocker and Thom Yorke to win the Best Solo Artist at the 2007 Shockwave NME Awards" - Im no snob but look at some of the comments on youtube... this guy is called a "genius" so the moral of the story is ditch whatever your learning now - hit an ABG as hard as you can with a pick sing some pointless lyrics over the top that to 12 year old kids seem to hold an element of controversy.

Or maybe im been too hard on him

tell me what you think

No, you're not being hard enough. Although it's not his fault if some berk of a music biz journo has described him as a genius. Which he most certainly isn't.

This guy sucks real bad. Both playing-wise and vocal-wise.

i say we all make a pact to kill ourselves if we ever play bass as poorly as that guy. don't worry, nobody on this forum is as bad as that guy, so we won't actually have to kill ourselves.

I believe that that guy IS a failed guitarist. Did you watch anything else from him? Apparently the guy only has a song about his acoustic bass and song about some tart called Sheila.

Smile The next britney?

Seems like so many "pop stars" have no other talent than to annoy the older generation. This, in turn, causes the emo's to flock to them like herds of nerds. Personally, as I stated in my comment on youtube, I think I played better the first time I picked up a bass....and the song was, Whole Lotta Love. 8)

I don't know...music is a big world....there's room for everybody...

Not my taste, but if floats your boat, far be it from me to stop you....and if someone wants to call you a genius, well, whatever...

We're not a very kind or openminded group, are we...??

If that's the only video you're judging him on I think you are rushing to judgement way too fast. Check out some of the other stuff. He's actually not bad. Strumming away on an ABG while streaming out wordy lyrics is an interesting schtick.

I'd rather listen to this than yet another wanker strumming an acoustic guitar in a minor key and trying to sound profound.

Hey, lighten up,

I reckon go for it kid, play the bass anyway you like. better playing it like that than going out and shooting and killing or whatever.

Besides, Thom Yorke, beating that miserable, sad, bung eye, woe is the world and everything in it #$@k cannot be that hard IM somewhat HO

To the first few posters, in attitude you are his brothers.

Lighten up and have a laugh for someones sake

From my point of view I think im more disillusioned to the fact that this guys held up as some kind of genius when obviously its most likely an attempt at satire. However im not bitter I respect what hes and recognise the fact hes expressing himself musically and thats fine... However with the way the music industry has gone it now seems that anybody who deviates slightly from what is considered pop music is held up as some kind of brilliant artist.

I suppose the sad truth is though - this kid looks a little bit rough and as though hes misunderstood... so that image sells after all it is the music INDUSTRY and industry = business...

Anyway thanx to all who left posts its nice to see that im not the only one angry about the state of mainstream music
