I am searching for exelent solo players who focus more in the melody than in fast licks. Can be tecnical but bassists who focus more in the melodic part.

You can often find the musicians listed where the recording is sold online. A site like Amazon.com could give you information, though you must deal with the English.
Are there special recordings you want to know about?

Are there special recordings you want to know about? | I hope you dídn´t get the thread (perhaps it is beacause my englisg is not so good)
In my opinion chet baker and miles are musicians who always priorize the melody instead of fast licks. Searching at TB, I see nobody made this question.
So give examples of bass players who priorize slow melodic phrases when soloing . |

Listen to Not For Nothing (I'm listening to it right now - beautiful recording start to finish) Also Prime Directive, and for a real treat listen to Ones All. For that matter pretty much everything he has recorded is incredible. His playing is always melodic and thoughtful even through fast passages, but his accompaniment and soloing on ballads is exquisite. Big gorgeous tone, fantastic phrasing, and very melodic.

I have wanted to get some video of him up on Youtube for awhile now.If I can get him to agree to being video taped I will come back to this thread and post some vids.

I'll have to search for Dave Holland's electric stuff, most of the recordings I have of his are on DB. |

Granted there are tonal differences and playability differences that have to be worked around, but (IMHO) it seems like that should be of minimal importance in a discussion of melodic playing. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/images...s/confused.gif

And when Victor Wooten is playing with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones and isn't making bass albums that show off his chops, he does some very melodic work indeed. |

NO slap, NO tap, NO double-thump, NO blizzard-of-notes-played-so-fast-it-sounds-like-white-noise.
Just one of the best and most MUSICAL Bass solos.
Ever.
In the history of the universe.
