Unhappy Irving "Punchy" Williams - unknown; not to be forgotten

This weekend I heard a pianist from New Orleans at a festival, David Roe. Used to bring an upright with him outdoors and jam out in the fashion that New Orleans is best known for.

During his show he mentioned that since Katrina he has heard from all the musicians on his last CD...except one. Anyway, I found Punchy Williams' story to be kinda moving, and so I lifted it - with permission - from Roe's web site.

Its okay to be an unidentifiedbassplayer. It's not right at all to be a forgotten one.
