Jóhann Ásmundsson of Mezzoforte

Been just watching their DVD Live in Reykjavik.

Asmundsson is definitely one of the funkiest bass players around, being the driving force behind Mezzoforte since the late 70's... Also one of the most prolific slappers... slap tone as it is meant to sound

However, a search on TB didn't turn up any results for Jóhann Ásmundsson or Mezzoforte... surely that cant be possible ? Nobody knows of him or finds his playing worth discussing? Say it aint so, tell me I don't know how to do a search

Can you say FUNK ?!?
some random youtube samples:Hard Wired
Expressway
Surprise, surprise / Gardenparty

Edit:
Let me add another clip from the same concert
Four Corners with a great bass and drum solo

Good call -

I have Mezzoforte's "Playing for Time", have enjoyed this cd since '93 or so.

Wish my computer's sound was working, I'd love to hear the clips. Ever hear of Backstreet? Dotsero? Similar style of music.

Yeah , Ive got their new Live DVD .... absolutely top notch , the Sax player is a bit of a tool tho . On the subject of live DVD`s , Brian Culbertsons " Live from the inside " is killer too .

Too true, the sax player is a bit acting out, nice playing tho ...

I can easily ignore him, because the bass is mixed so forward on that whole DVD, it's a rare treat, especially considering Jóhann's chops on display.

Just perfect for checking out his bass lines

Long time fan. I saw them live 15 years ago, and they were absolutely brilliant. One of the tightest rhythm sections in the business IMO, really in the Garibaldi/Prestia league of tight.
