People often point out J.S. Bach's influence on Jack Bruce (and Jack himself has stressed it). Recently, a fellow musician asked me for an example, and it's subtle-- not easy to put your finger on.
I came up with two examples.
1) The melody that he plays in the second half of the trumpet solo in Cream's "Pressed Rat and Warthog" (2:06-2:16) has always reminded me of Bach because of its shape and length.

2) This one is more obvious. Check out the contrapuntal head of Jack's composition, "Things We Like." (John McLaughlin, guitar, Dick Heckstall-Smith, saxophone, Jon Hiseman, drums, Jack Bruce, acoustic bass.)
