Has pickups similar to a Jaguar guitar, and the same bridge/trem as the Jaguar/Jazzmaster (though the saddles for the Bass VI were solid barrels, later used on the Mustang guitar instead of the threaded rod with individual heigth screws the Jag/JM used).
He got it when the guitarist (John McLaughlin I beleive) left the Graham Bond Organisation. It allowed Jack to cover the bass function and also to play some "guitar-like solos". He used it for into the first tour. Just before the tour he had it painted by some people from an artist collective named "The Fool" who also painted Clapton's SG/Les Paul (the psychedelic one that Todd Rundgren owns now). There was a picture of the Bass Vi with the psychedelic paint job inside the album cover for "Wheels of Fire". Jack says the paint never set up and thats why he stopped playing it.

He used the Dano on some songs. I have tried to find out which ones, but have never been able to find out. |
