I watched the Cream reunion concert DVD and was inspired to grab my fretless warwick for my gig that night. I sounded nothing like JB - but I'd say that qualifies as being "influenced."

3x

Just listened to Wheels of Fire yesterday. It occurs to me that I've seen Jack 3 times.

The first was in probably 68. I was about 10, my father and I dropped off my big bro and sister and their friends at the Colosium on the S. side of Chicago to see the Cream concert. We came back to pick them up and the show was still going. It was a hot summer night and the side doors were open. We heard...DRUMS. Walked right in at stage L and stood there watching what I now know as Toad. Right in front of the stacks. Then the band kicks in, YOW! Outta there people!

Second time he was playing with The Golden Palominos at the U. of Illinois in... 84? Really odd band, Chris Stamey switching off on bass and keys. I recall a very cool version of "Misty Mountain Hop" believe it or not.

Last time was in the middle on Nowhere, Wis. at some old ballroom in the middle of winter (92?). This time with Ginger and also Bernie Worell and an 18 yr. old Blues Saracino (sp?) on guitar (take that eric). I found myself right upfront with Tom Petersson and Bun E. Carlos of Cheap Trick, all of us reduced to wide eyed fans. That was cool.

Jack did some great tracks with Aynsley Dunbar on Lou Reed's Berlin. Worth checking out.
