Jaco the Composer

Okay Jaco was a very revolutionary bassist and an amazing one but I think
most of the times people tend forget what an amazing composer and writer
he was. I was listening to his solo album today and realized how amazing the
string arrangement for Kuru/Speak Like a Child is. To a point I'm almost more
impressed by his compositions than his playing. Heck even listening back to
some of his things when he was in bands in his early 20s and writing for them
his compositions had amazing arrangements. Not only should he be remembered
as an amazing bassist but as an amazing composer.

Right on. Not only was he an amazing player but he knew how to compose and arrange with such brilliant flair. He really showed this in Weather Report I think, given the support and chops of his bandmates to handle things like Havona!
