I think he shines when he plays those R&B 16th grooves.
Some good songs:
1-Come on come over
2-4AM (Herbie hancock)
3-Barbary Coast
4-Slang
5-The chicken
6-Beaver Patrol
7-Opus Pocus
8-In France they Kiss on main street
9-I Can Dig It Baby
10-River People
11-All American Alien Boy
12-Black Market
13-Wiggle Waggle
14-Palladium
15-Higher
16-The Dry Cleaner From Des Moines
17-Havona
I want to make a compilation with all his R&B material.
Bring them all!!!!
pd: This will prove who is the greatest groove , pocket bassist to ever live.

Jam in E
The one where he riffs into his delay, loops it and jams to the loop.
errr... come to think of it, add "Amerika" to that and you basically have about 98% of the YouTube vids of him.

The thing about this take of "Wiggle Waggle" is that they actually used Jaco's real bass part which was somehow "isolated" from a live recording. Then the rest of the band actually jams to Jaco's "live" bass playing. Jaco was in absolute top form that night. IMO, definitely worth a listen! |

I don't think there is a Jaco version of "Beaver Patrol".
There are a fair share of R&B finger Funk grooves on The Early Years Recordings... http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/jacopastorius3
Hopefully, the Woodchuck & Tommy Strand cds will be out sooner over later.

I agree on that. I misled myself by stressing "fingerstyle" to much. |
