As far as I know he didn't play with either one of those bands... but he did play with Blood Sweat and Tears for a short amount of time although I don't think he was on any of their albums.

At this point I feel I can call myself a complete Jaco geek and I've never heard or read that he played with either of those groups. So +1 to the previous posts

yeah I believe he played with BS&T for a little while. In fact the drummer for BS&T, Bobby Colomby, produced Jaco's first record after hearing him in FL

He probably heard the live "soul intro" to the Chicken and thought, "that sounds like Saturday Night Live".

He was definitely never an actual member of those bands, but since Jaco was tight with several prominent members of the SNL band, he might have sat in at some point. Who knows - memories from the late 70's/early 80's tend to be kinda hazy about these things

Same thing about the Allman Brothers, I've never heard about that before. There is a tape floating around of a sub par one-off performance with the Dixie Dreggs, though - maybe the guy you spoke to was confused?

Jaco did his walk up at the end of a Dregs concert down here in South Florida as he usually did near the end of his short life. THAT might be what you are referring to??? I've seen it happen quite a few times.
