...and probably shouldn't be on Youtube. Or maybe it should: "kids, don't do coke - it can change you from being a genius into... this".

I think you get negative bass karma for posting that kind of stuff.

I honestly don't know how to feel about this for better or worse. Sure he was a fantastic bass player... but he was a disturbed individual. If this was posted and he were still alive would anyone feel that the video need be taken down?

+1. I personally never have any interest in seeing automobile accident footage. I will always remember him at his peak, and more importantly, how just the tone of an instrument made me FEEL.

BFD. Lots of people - at least in a certain period of their life - have lived similarly at least for depressuriziation after a long haul, and expressed themselves similarly too. That in itself is not so far from standard human behavior. It's when it's dominant for extended periods that it's troubling for those around them, and for themselves.

So let's not go hypocritical ; }

The music is still beyond reproach, just as it's been for a lot of other all-too-human greats.

Having experienced him like that first hand, I can say that I was in no rush to see him like this again.

Theres always the desire to view your heroes in a more-than-human light. But he was human and this gives us all perspective on great individuals. This is reality, dont hide from it, deal with it.
