Sign in to disble this ad
Just been listening to the album Love's Finally Found Me - Stanley Turrentine & Gloria Lynne

I know it can't be JJ playing bass – can it?

Check out the track ‘Loves finally found me’.

OK who is it if its not Jamerson?

I think it's Wilton Felder.

It's amazing how many bassists having heard Jamerson had their lightbulb moments. Maybe it triggered something that was already pretty close to the surface in a lot of them. Jamerson for all his legend and legacy didn't have that long of a first-tier recording career before others took over for the most part. But how many players of that time really carrried the Jamerson torch forward - a hella lot!

Well said. He did add so much to the encyclopaedia of bass playing techniques.

As we have seen, it might not be Jamerson - but it just might as well be, because everytime we think - hey that could be JJ, in a way, we are hearing the man himself. If you get my drift.

What a legacy!
