About time James gets his. 30 years late but at least he's getting something.

BTW isn't he already in the R&R Hall of Fame?

God Bless, Ray

How could they have a Fender HOF with out him. It would be like going to an air museum with no mention of the Wright Bros.

Yeah, It's not like enough people have made a buck off Jamerson! (besides Jamerson)
Brilliant marketing dressed up as an honor.
Run out and buy those legendary 1962 Three-Color Sunburst Fender Precision Bass “Funk Machine” reproductions!

I think that before they could induct him, they had to have a Hall of Fame first. I agree it's a silly marketing thing, but it's always good when the right people get recognition. Now if they also induct Pete Wentz, then we'll have to talk.

If and when Pete Wentz is cool and gives cred to middle-aged collectors with disposable income, he'll be in that hall of fame - in a NY minute.

Fender Hall of Fame was created in 2007. The inductees included Fender employees/business partners and, of course, other non-bass players.

Inductees by year:

2007 Clarence “Leo” Fender
2007 Charlie Hayes
2007 Donald D. Randall
2007 William C. “Bill” Schultz
2007 Freddie Tavares
2007 Forrest White
2008 The Beach Boys
2008 James Burton
2008 Bill Carson
2008 Don Johnston
2008 Robert “Bob” Perine
2008 Dan Smith
2009 James Jamerson
2009 Masamitsu “Mike” Yamano

Anything that gets his name in front of the public is A Good Thing, marketing exercise or what-have-you.

But the Fender hall of fame doesn't get Jamerson's name in front of the public, nor is it designed to.
It reminds players and wannabe players who already know of Jamerson and like him of his fender p-bass. The 15 year old emo kid who's into Pete Wentz isn't going to get into Motown because he saw Jamerson's name in the FHOF any more that I would have gotten into Ron Carter (or whomever) when I was 15 and into Squire and the non-player man-on-the-street isn't visiting the Fender website.
Jamerson in the FHOF is targeted at players who already dig Jamerson to make the Funk Machine association and sell product. It's a sermon directed 100% to the choir.
