James LoMenzo Overdrive

I'm trying to track down the overdrive pedal James LoMenzo used on the Pride and Glory album. Quite difficult to Google since he released his own pedal.

I want to ditch my crappy Boss fuzz thing, so looking for an alternative..EBS valve drive or his own Ashdown pedal perhaps? I'm playing through a Trace Elliot valve pre-amp.

Hi, James here.

Just noticed your thread. O.k., So the "Pride & Glory" distortion you're looking for was simply an old Pearce Preamp probably with the Billy Sheehan Mod. I think I went into that, then a crown Microtech amp (1200watt) and then into a custom Ampeg cab (4x10 & 1x15). I'm pretty sure we only mic'd a 10 though.

I'd definitely recommend my Ashdown Hyperdrive. I designed it specifically to be able to emulate that old pre. It get's pretty close, I use mine all the time to give me that familiar feel that I liked about the Pearce.

Best of luck!
James
