Jauqo III-X Interview

This Interview reminds me of a time when interviews really were about the music and what was behind the artist.

Any one remember the publication called Musician magazine? Some of the best musician interviews ever?

One of the things that always comes across in your writings here and in the interview is your respect for other musicians, regardless of style.
That is a beautiful trait, and coupled with your own artistic vision and gifts, is a beautiful combination.
Nice piece.

Kesslari I do respect other musicians. And thanks for being able to recognize that.

Great interview!

I am suprised, Jauqo, that you have been in prison...and for such a long stretch! Having met you in person, years ago at a NAMM show, you did not strike me as a hardened "prison" type at all! Too nice, too polite, too gracious! It just doesn't fit!

Anyway, I hope one day you manage to record with Jon hassell (as I mentioned to you one time before)...your low bass sound would go so well with his music, which is clean and leaves plenty of space for the ultra-low frequencies you can generate with your sub-contra.

thats what an interview should be... why cant they all be so free of fluff? I guess it takes an interviewer that did their homework, and an interviewee thats worth listening to... good job Jauqo.

Hi, y'all. I'm the one who did the interview with Jauqo on Thunder Row. It was a wonderful experience. I learned a lot about his musical accomplishments - I am honoured to have been the one to create the space that allowed him to share his words and musical gifts.

Thank you all for your wonderful replies. He deserves the good vibes!

(don't we all?)

I enjoyed the interview. I have so much respect for you. You certainly achieved when you could have given up. You are an inspiration to me, I just wish I could get the funding for you to gig down at Southern Illinois.

There's an old saying in prison. "Never let them see you sweat"

LV I instinctively respect people, when I am allowed to enter their space. That's why I find it so interesting how kat's choose to bash and talk a bunch of bs and not really knowing anything about the person that they choose to make their petty target. All the while hiding behind a screen name

I would love to perform with John Hassell. And I would definitely be bringing my sub contra bass.

You're more than welcome. And for me to inspire that in and of it's self is a great thing.

I totally agree. I think if more interviews were in this zone there would possibly be a better state of music today. The person who interviewed me really did a beautiful job. The passion that went into this interview really shines through big time.

Elmeaux I thank you with all my heart. You really took things to the next level and I hope you continue to grow and be the artist that you sincerely are.

This is the best interview I have ever done. It allowed the interviewer and the artist to be on the same playing field.
You allowed me to be who I am and to openly share with the world.

This interview is how interviews with a musician should be.

An guys there was never any sign or indication that fluff was needed.

While in prison I could have sat around and done nothing. But I was like I miss my bass and I need to play. I had my bass sent in and I was back on the road to being what I was put here to do. And that's play bass among some other things

As far as funding I'm sure it will come.

Thanx, Bruh. You're too kind. Drop me a copy of the new CD when it comes out. I'd love to do a review of it for Thunder Row.

A really good and real interview, or more like an innerview. I appreciate and respect that you obviously never lost your passion for your vision in spite of a serious setback!. Regarding Musician magazine, I still have some old issues, including one featuring bassists. Great read indeed!
