What kind of bass does Jay Bentley from Bad Religion play? Is it a custom made bass since it has no pots (even volume)?

That one seems like a '51 P reissue, so he might have a larger herd than I've seen him with. Always seems to play P basses though. |

It's basically a Deleo with a tele neck. |

the white one is a schecter neck (bought on ebay) on a mahogany body made by andrew buscher in 2003.
all the albums since 1988's "suffer" have been recorded with a 1978 fender p-bass.

No pots? Is that because they would never survive or just no need for them?

i think the neck was $190 us... a good deal!! it had old tuner screw holes that were off center, but we just filled them in. the body was made by andrew in the shape of a 1978 telecaster. i think he found the wood, a big chunk of mahogany, by a railroad track. (seriously..)
factually, i didn't start playing the bass as my #1 live til 2004... the black one was pristine when i got it...*sigh* oh well, they're meant to be played...

And the color of the mahogany where your pick gouged the front makes it look like it's blood spattered. Or is that actual blood?
Regardless, I really want that bass. For some reason I keep coming back to that bass over all the pictures of basses on here. The wear on it is like nothing I've seen before. And it's got this look like it's indestructible. But some hardcore Bad Religion fan will probably offer you way more money for it than I ever would. I like your music but I'm not hardcore a fan enough to pay a few grand for it.

the top wear from my wrist brace is the mahogany, the bottom splatter is blood. sorry.
i use blue steel custom lights, have used dáddario´s on earlier records (´88 through 94ish).
also, try the dimarzio p-bass replacement pick up. |
