I've been listening to a lot of jazz or fusion players. Especially the typical SMV and JOhn Patitucci. But lately I've been craving to listen to something different. Can you recommend some "jazz" bassists, preferably electric to listen to it? |

I do find that most of the recordings with Steve could be better served by turning him up in the mix. I love his playing, but hate his recorded sound 95% of the time. Not enough presence! |

Another recommendation is Tony Grey, he has a few but excellent CDs under his name. He plays w/ Hiromi, a Jazz Fusion pianist. Her CDs are very refreshing, all featuring Tony on bass.
One more recommendation would be the 'Bass extremes' dvd featuring Wooten & Bailey. Awesome composition + phenomenal playing. |
