I own somewhere between 1600-1700 CDs, but of all of those, only 3 are solo bass albums: Vic's "Show of Hands", Dave Pomeroy's "Tomorrow Never Knows" (which I bought after meeting him in Austin) and now Jeff's "Outre".
I really dig "Outre". There's just something about Jeff's technique and the expressiveness of his playing that I love. A virtuoso for sure, but I never get the sense that the songs were designed to showcase his chops as much as that they are needed to serve the songs. Great stuff. |

Particularly the song Red Right Returning - changed the way I approached bass as an instrument.

Thanks gold member | Yeah, a reverse strung Piccolo Bass, not too many people around that play those, I actually cant think of any off the top of my head besides Jeff.

The cool thing about Jeff's setup is that being a 'backwards' lefty, a righty can pick it up & play it. Like I did, once. Jeff is cool.

I usually don't like solo bass, but this is a "real" song, great composition. I love it. Jeff is a very nice guy, I talked to him by PM with a him. He helped me a lot with different things.
I will buy the cd.
