The Misfits are tied with Black Flag for my favorite punk band of all time, and I was wondering if anyone else was a fan, and what you guys think of Jerry Only's playing. I don't like him as a person, because he's a hypocrite and has kind of overdone the whole "Fiend Skull" thing.
He had a pretty sick Rick, though:

The joke at my local store is to use my first and his last name for...well, anything related to me. "These strings were ordered for Jerry Only." "The special pricing on this applies to Jerry Only." Yes, it's sad how easily I'm amused. |

| | | | Big fan of his sound, the sound that made me want to play. Ironically, my first amp was an acoustic 270.. it wasn't until many years later that I discovered that's what he used to get THAT sound (think evilive).
His playing OTOH, is nothing to write home about. The tracks that Eerie &\or Glenn re-recorded (Legacy, the various comps) are just as good, if not better. I've heard and seen tons of bootlegs, and they honestly were one of the worst live acts ever, at least once Doyle joined. |

Evilive is great, though.

That was a matinee show, and a bit laid back compared to the usual madness. Nobody hit in the head with a bass, no bottles thrown.. the beer had not yet started to flow. |

| | | | imo, jerry is one of the most down to earth guys in music, i've been to every misfits show that has come through denver, after every show he stays as long as it takes to sign anything for anyone, take pics, or just shoot the **** with fans, as far as his playing,...........its punk rock. 2 minute songs rule!!!!!! |

| | | My 800RB was owned or played by Jerry Only. At least that's what the ad said when I bought it.
Probably just used it when it was provided as backline at some club. |

The very altered and smashed remains of that Ric was recently up up on ebay for $12,000 min. bid-No takers
That bass had a great Ric tone on the early stuff (coffin-box
cd set), Then he went bat-**** crazy and replaced the pickups w/ dual P's & a Bart bridge pickup, as well as bat
wings on the headstock, sounded like a raging fart in a fan
("Walk Among Us","Earth A.D.")-I still dug it!
I thought it was brilliant that he strung his basses E,A,E,A |

Picked up 3 packs of them at guitar center for $8 a pack. Originally just bought them for the price, they are really awesome strings!!!!! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
