| I have 2 old P-Basses, one is 1959 and the other is 1964. Mostly used the '64 for recording. I was a little worried about even taking the '59 out of my house. For recording, I seldom used an amp because of "leakage" considerations. Whenever I used an amp, it was a Walter Woods (I have two of them) and either a Gauss or JBL 15" speaker in a cabinet designed by Peter Woodford to be used with a WW amp. Strings were Fender flat/nickel. Now I use Thomastik flat. (I also use Thomastik on my uprights.) I also have three 5-string basses - 2 Yamaha (one is fretless) and one Ibanez Soundgear. On these, I have used mostly LaBella round. |
