Anyone have any idea who this guy is or any other bands he has played with? He rips the entire song apart, and has so much groove I'm unworthy to even drool over it!

Also anyone know any soundmen that worked with the band? They actually got it right for once!

Graham Maby, truly one of the largely unsung greats!

I'm pretty sure that's Graham Maby. Not sure what he did after Joe Jackson.

That clip is textbook good rock bass playing. Great sound, perfect time, and subtle chops.

Well, he still plays with Joe a fair bit. He also had a stint in They Might Be Giants when the Johns first started touring with a full band.

Yes indeed! Start with Look Sharp! and I'm The Man for the most rockin' stuff, then move forward as the music takes twists and turns. I believe Graham's on the vast majority of Joe's albums.

Graham's consistently been with JJ, except for the 1986 Big World album and tour, due to commitments with TMBG. We've exchanged the occasional e-mail, too; very down-to-earth cat. The breadth of JJ's material is quite wide, and Graham can play it all with panache. Of course, JJ's first wife happened to be Graham's sister.

Graham-meets-Geddy is my playing style and sound. I keep pestering Bass Player to finally do a nice writeup on Graham, other then the brief 3 paragraph one that he got a decade ago. JJ's newest album, "Rain" is the evolution of the piano trio. Highly recommended.
