Joey Vera- Armored Saint

Power metal LA style in the 90's was a dime a dozen, full of guitar shredders with bad songs. But I will gather you to towards Armored Saint.
Their album Symbol Of Salvation is a brilliant recording.

Listen and you will find some of the best bass lines ever to grace a hard rock record.

Still love "March of the Saint" LP to this day. Joey was underrated. So was the band. Neither him nor John Bush should have been in Anthrax. ASaint was more musical and melodic by far.

I can't say much about his playing, since I am oblivious to AS and Anthrax, but I did meet Joey backstage after an Anthrax show about...five years ago. Real down to earth guy. I asked him a little about how he got to where he is and how he survives from a financial standpoint (not that I thought he was hurting or anything...). He said it's a little bit of this and a little bit of that. For example, there's a scene in Hellraiser 3, and I don't remember if it's AS or Anthrax that's in it, but he said that every time that played on tv, he'd get a tiny percentage from it. So every so often, he'd get a check in the mail for that. He said it wasn't much, but little things like that help out. Pretty cool guy.

I'm SO HAPPY about seeing a subject about him (today!! Well......anyday!!!),on TB!!! He's one of the VERY, MOST-DESERVING players out there......

Why??? He is THE GODFATHER of "real" 80's metal bassists out there ......We ain't talkin' 'bout your uncle Angus' 80's hair-metal bassists out there!!

SOME INFO,KIDS: He was 2nd-in-line to the bass playing throne (to Clifford C. Burton Esquire-III,of Meticalla fame). IMHO?? He should've been first-in-line!!!

Some info X 1,000: That "metal-tone" yer playin' with today?? Give thanks Mr.Vera!!!:bas sist:
